Why Choose Our Skin Tag Removal

CryoPen precision

The CryoPen delivers a fine jet of nitrous oxide that freezes the skin tag while leaving the skin around it alone.

No cutting or stitches

Freezing is non-invasive, so there are no incisions and you can carry on with your day straight afterwards.

Doctor-led care

We check the lesion is a skin tag and suitable for freezing before any treatment goes ahead.

How it works

  1. Free consultation and skin assessment
  2. A clear price before treatment
  3. CryoPen freezing, usually in a single session

Skin tags are small, soft growths that hang from the skin. They are harmless and very common, but they can catch on clothing or jewellery, rub, or simply be somewhere you would rather they weren’t. At our Llanelli clinic we remove them by freezing with the CryoPen, from £50.

Cowell St Skin & Hair Clinic is in the centre of Llanelli. We are a doctor-led clinic registered with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales, and we have been treating clients since 2016.

Every client starts with a free consultation. There’s no pressure and no sales pitch, just an honest view of what treatment can and can’t do for you.

What Are Skin Tags?

Skin tags are small flaps of skin, usually the same colour as the skin around them or slightly darker, joined to the body by a narrow stalk. They tend to appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, such as the neck, armpits, eyelids, groin and under the breasts.

They are harmless and do not need to be removed for medical reasons. Most people have them treated because they catch, rub or affect how they feel about their skin.

How CryoPen Skin Tag Removal Works

Illustration: the CryoPen delivers a fine, precise jet of ultra-cold nitrous oxide onto the skin tag. The extreme cold turns the fluid inside its cells into sharp ice crystals, which rupture the cell walls and destroy the tissue, while the surrounding skin is left unharmed. Over the following one to six weeks the tag turns black at the base, dries and falls away naturally, leaving smooth skin behind. Larger skin tags may need a second freeze. © Cowell St Skin & Hair Clinic.

The CryoPen is a cryotherapy device. It directs a fine, high-pressure jet of nitrous oxide at the skin tag, freezing it in a few seconds.

The cold destroys the cells in the skin tag while the healthy skin around it is left alone. There is no cutting, no stitches and no anaesthetic.

Over the following weeks the skin tag turns black at the base and drops off. This takes between 1 and 6 weeks.

What Results to Expect

In most cases a single session is enough. Larger skin tags of 3mm or more may need a second freeze. If yours is still there after 6 weeks, contact us and we will re-treat it.

The CryoPen is precise, so the risk of scarring is low. Freezing can occasionally leave a lighter or darker patch of skin, and lighter patches are more likely on darker skin tones, so we check your skin and talk through suitability at your consultation.

Removing a skin tag does not stop new ones forming elsewhere.

Warts and Pigmentation

The CryoPen is not only for skin tags. We also use it to treat warts and small areas of pigmentation, such as age spots.

We will look at the lesion at your free consultation and tell you whether freezing is suitable.

What You Can Expect from Treatment

  • A few seconds per tag: the CryoPen is applied to each skin tag for a matter of seconds
  • Minimal discomfort: most people feel a brief cold sting, which passes quickly
  • Usually one session: larger skin tags of 3mm or more may need a second freeze
  • Drops off in 1 to 6 weeks: the skin tag turns black at the base before coming away on its own
  • No downtime: you can go straight back to work and your normal routine
  • Honest advice: if a lesion isn’t suitable for freezing, we’ll tell you before any treatment

After each session
